Covalent Lithium is one of Australia’s largest lithium mining operations, with a major refinery in Kwinana, active mining at Mount Holland, and a supporting workshop. As a major resource company operating under Western Australian mining legislation, maintaining full compliance with their Mine Safety Management System (MSMS) is both a regulatory obligation and a critical operational requirement.
The core challenge was uncertainty. Covalent Lithium’s leadership did not have clear visibility into whether their MSMS met all current legislative requirements — both in how the system was designed and how it was being applied in the field. SAFESCOPE Consulting was engaged to conduct a comprehensive, risk-based audit of Covalent Lithium’s entire MSMS. The methodology was structured around two core dimensions:
